On Friday in Kankan, Guinea, we endured a difficult start to our West Africa Champions Cup 2026 campaign, suffering a heavy 4-0 defeat to Karfamoriah FC in our opening fixture at the Stade M’Balloue Mady.

Despite a good overall performance, our team struggled to find their rhythm against a determined Karfamoriah outfit, which took control of the contest and punished Star Sport Academy’s defensive lapses.

Souleymane Diawara was the standout performer for the hosts, scoring twice to put his team firmly in command.

Amadou Mansare and Mohamed Lamine Conde also found the back of the net as Karfamoriah FC completed a convincing victory and secured all three points.

Despite the disappointing result, Star Sport Academy will have an opportunity to regroup, assess their performance and return stronger in their next encounter.

Coach Amidu Karim’s side will be hoping to put this setback behind them and deliver a much-improved performance as they continue their Champions Cup journey on Sunday.
