Star Sport Academy Team Manager Musa Pokawa has expressed gratitude to the Sierra Leone football family following the club’s exit from the CAF Champions League, praising the players for their spirited performance against Moroccan giants RS Berkane.
Pokawa extended special appreciation to the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) President Babadi Kamara and his executive, club chairman Ing. Yankuba Jusu Tarawally, head coach Amidu Karim and his technical team for their support throughout the club’s continental campaign.
Despite the elimination, the team manager commended the players for putting up a fight against a well-organised and disciplined RS Berkane side, noting that the team had demonstrated a level of competitiveness many might not have expected.
“I personally want to say thanks to the SLFA president, Mr Babadi Kamara and his executive, our chairman, Ing Yankuba Tarawally, our head coach, Amidu Karim and backroom team, our players, our fans and all those who supported us,” Pokawa told the club’s media.
With their continental campaign now over, Pokawa has urged the players to regroup and shift their full attention to the Leone Rock Premier League, stressing that the club’s journey has only just begun.
He called on every player to remain focused, committed and prepared to compete at the highest level as Star Sport Academy turns its attention to domestic competition.
The team is scheduled to begin its Leone Rock Premier League campaign on October 31, when it faces Kamboi Eagles in what promises to be a crucial opening fixture.
Pokawa’s message is clear: while the CAF Champions League journey has ended, Star Sport Academy must learn from the experience, build on its performance and approach the domestic season with renewed
determination.
