Star Sport Academy has opened a nine-day camp in Kenema in Sierra Leone’s Eastern Province in readiness for this season’s continental competition. 

Our team will be based at Kenema’s Luawa Hotel while they get ready for tough games in the fifth edition of the West Africa Champions in Kankan, Guinea, where we will be making our first appearance in August.

Before the start of competitive games, head coach Amidu Karim will use the camps to evaluate new signings, raise fitness levels, and develop tactical awareness.

Ten teams from five nations confirmed participation in this year’s WACC competition from August 14 to 21, 2026, in Kankan.

The preparations also give new players a chance to learn the coach’s philosophy and sharpness, and for younger players to show off their talent.

We’ll use Guinea trip as reparation for our CAF Champions League preliminary matches as a strong pre-season camp preparation is regarded as essential for our team to compete effectively against the best clubs on the continent.
