Star Sport Academy of Sierra Leone tasted its first TotalEnergies CAF Champions League second-round preliminary first-leg defeat, 2-0 to Morocco’s RS Berkane, but there’s still hope.

“We’re heading to Morocco to turn this result around,” said head coach Amidu Karim after the match. We created plenty of chances that we couldn’t convert in Liberia, but that’s football for you.”

“As a team, we have to believe in ourselves and be confident that we can go to Berkane and score goals.”

The visitors scored two goals through Oussam Lamlioui before halftime to give last season’s semi-finalists a comfortable lead as they prepare to host the return match.

Lamlioui opened the scoring just 11 minutes into the game at Stade Kanyon Doe in Monrovia and then added a second right on the edge of halftime.

There were no more goals in the second half despite our continuous push. The return fixture is on October 25th at the Berkane Municipal Stadium in Morocco.
