Freetown, Sierra Leone – Saturday, 9th August 2025 — In a move that promises to energise the local football scene, Luminix Energy Solutions and Star Sport Academy have officially launched a game-changing sponsorship deal at the SLFA Academy in Kingtom, Freetown.
The package includes a brand-new 35-seater team bus and 25 solar-powered generators—essential boosts for the Academy’s mission of grooming young football talent.
Giving the background, Star Sport Academy Chairman Ing. Yankuba J. Tarawally, popularly known as Lux Cee Note, traced the Academy’s journey since its 2022 debut.
“We established Star Sport Academy to harness the growing passion for football, recruiting young boys, nurturing their skills, and preparing them for opportunities in Europe and beyond,” Tarawally explained.
He highlighted nationwide scouting programs designed to spot raw talent and outlined significant investments, including land acquisition and seven transport vehicles, to sustain the Academy’s growth.
“Last year, we approached Luminix for a partnership, and today, they are our official sponsor. This is a winning match for both sides,” he added.
Luminix Energy Solutions CEO Salwa Campbell emphasised the shared values between sport and energy.
“Both are about power, strength, and resilience. We’re here to fuel Star Sport Academy’s journey, and every match you play, every goal you score, will light up our shared vision,” Campbell said.
Sierra Leone National Team Head Coach Mohamed Kallon praised the partnership, calling for more academies to help develop players for the national squad.
Guest Speaker and National Sports Authority Executive Director, Emmanuel Safa Abdulai, commended the commitment to youth development.
“Investing in football is no small feat. It’s about giving young people an alternative to drugs and crime. Luminix’s support is a hat-trick for the game, the youth, and the country,” he noted.
He also revealed plans to set up a sports basket fund to reduce over-reliance on government funding, urging unity among football stakeholders to build strong structures for sustained success.
The ceremony ended with the symbolic cutting of the tape and the signing of the sponsorship agreement—marking the start of a partnership that both sides hope will deliver trophies on and off the pitch.
