Star Sport Academy bounced back in style with a 2–0 victory over Malian side AS Real Bamako in the West Africa Champions Cup on Sunday at the Stade M’Ballou Mady in Kankan, Guinea.

After a goalless first half, Coach Amidu Karim’s side returned from the break with greater intensity and purpose.

Substitute Senesie Janneh broke the deadlock with a well-taken header in the 60th minute before striker Hindovie Turker doubled the lead eight minutes later to seal a crucial victory.

The win comes after Star Sport Academy suffered defeat in their opening match, making Sunday’s result a must-win as the team looked to get their campaign back on track.

The victory provides a much-needed boost ahead of their next encounter against fellow Malian side Djoliba AC on Wednesday at the same venue.

There were three changes for AS Real: Isaac Caulker replaced Dauda Bangura in goal, Mamady Konecames came in for Sheka Sesay, while Larry Siemon started in place of Hindovie Turker.
