As they equalised with a penalty kick in the 73rd minute of the game, FC Kallon thwarted Star Sport Academy’s hopes of winning a second game in the second round of the Sierra Leone Premier League.
The final score was 1 all; the game was on Saturday at the Sierra Leone Football Association field surrounded by a spirited crowd.
Star Sport Academy’s striker Larry Siemon started the scoring surge with a great goal, highlighting his agility and accuracy. Shortly, the hosts were awarded a spot kick, which led to a tense moment that finally ended with their equaliser.
In a shocking twist toward the game’s finish, it seemed that Siemon had sealed a late winner with his second goal in the 84th minute. Much to the disappointment of the Star Sport Academy athletes and their fans, however, the goal was disallowed for an offside call, therefore keeping the game in a stalemate.
The meeting underscored the unpredictability of football and the possibility for success as well as the competitive nature of the teams engaged.
